Beginning life as a print shop, then converting into a storage room, and finally becoming a café - the Empower Café. There was a vision to give those in WE Inc.’s program another avenue to pursue if they had the passion for entering the culinary world.

Workshops has been in the Birmingham community for over 125 years, and recently began engaging in more public endeavors. Such as the WE Made product line of baking mixes, sprays, and fire starters, and of course the Empower Café.

Many of the workers you see in the café are interns at Workshops who all have their own unique story that lead them to us. That’s where the saying, “It’s More Than Food: It’s A Mission” comes from, because every person you see is on a mission that we may or may not know, but we do know that at the Empower Café they’ll get all the help they need!
